Royal Family urged to ‘bite the bullet’ and ask Prince Harry to return amid ‘disaster’

Former royal butler, Grant Harrold, says he believes the Royal Family should ‘bite the bullet’ and persuade Prince Harry to return to royal duties amid the ongoing rift

Prince Harry departed the Royal Family in 2020, when he and Meghan Markle stepped down from their duties and moved across the pond.

And now a former royal butler has urged the Royal Family to consider welcoming Prince Harry back into the fold amid increasing concerns about who is available to step up while multiple senior royals remain absent from public life and duties.

King Charles III is currently undergoing cancer treatment after he was diagnosed earlier this year, with Princess Kate also enduring health woes. The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery earlier this year and is due to be out of the limelight until after Easter.

Grant Harrold, who worked with King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla between 2004 and 2011 as their royal butler, has now opened up about how he believes the Monarchy is in “an absolute constitutional disaster” at the moment.

He has said that the Royal Family needs to “bite the bullet” and ask Harry to return to undertake duties alongside his brother, Prince William, saying: “I don’t see any reason why Harry couldn’t return as a full working royal. He’s fifth in line to the throne.”

He went on to add: “As fifth in line to the throne, as Counsel of the State, as the son of the King, as the brother of the future King, you would think he would step in and come in to actually help. For all we know, that may not have been asked.

“The household may have said, ‘We’re going to go down that route’, that is a possibility, but they’re gonna be shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t consider that as an option. I know there’s a lot of feelings about Harry and Meghan, and I know that they’re careful, but this is a desperate time, and desperate times call for desperate measures.”

Mr Harrold added: “As I’ve said 100 times, I know how close Harry is to his brother, well how close he was to his brother and father, I know how close he was to Kate. So forget everything that’s happened over the last four years, looking historically, blood is thicker than water. Maybe this is the time they’ve got to bite the bullet and say, ‘Harry, we need you,’ and he’s got to think, ‘Okay, I need to go in and actually help them out because they’re in trouble’.”

Grant Harrold’s comments come after he spoke to Spin Genie.
