Sky Sports have announced a brand new ‘Premier League Show’ starting next week to coincide with the beginning of the top flight season.

The broadcaster will be showing at least 215 live matches from the Premier League this season after it was confirmed that games moved to 2pm on a Sunday due to European competitions, will be shown live on Sky. Previously, these matches were not shown by the broadcaster leading to confusion considering they were being played outside of the Saturday 3pm blackout.

As part of their increased coverage of the English top flight, Sky Sports have announced a new show on Sky Sports News. The ‘Premier League Show’ will be aired Monday-Thursday by either Julian Warren or Emma Paton between 5pm and 7pm.

On Fridays, the show’s name shall change to ‘Premier League Friday’ and will be hosted by presenter Roman Kemp. According to Sky, the show will serve as a ‘gateway’ to the start of the weekend’s fixtures.

Reflecting on his new role, Kemp said: “Football means more to me than anything. To be a part of a show like this building up to the biggest games in world football is a real privilege.

“I can’t wait to get going and as a fan, do this show justice.” The first show will air on Friday, August 15 and will be hosted by Kemp prior to the opening fixture between Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth that evening.

The clash at Anfield is one of six matches being shown live on Sky Sports on the opening weekend. On Saturday, Wolverhampton Wanderers will host Man City on the channel before Super Sunday will show Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest vs Brentford and Manchester United vs Arsenal.

The weekend will then conclude on Monday night as Leeds United host Everton. TNT Sports also hold rights this season and they will be broadcasting Aston Villa vs Newcastle United on Saturday lunchtime.
