Student dies playing on sports fields at Eton College

A boy has died after collapsing on the fields at Eton College. The Year 13 student was playing the Field Game – a type of football played with a smaller, harder ball – when he became unwell.

Parents at the school have been informed, The Telegraph reports.

Headteacher Simon Henderson said the student, named by the Telegraph as Raphaël Pryor, was an ‘outstanding young man’ who lived with ‘joy in his heart’.

He said he ‘excelled’ as a House Captain of the Field Game. One parent told the Telegraph: “He collapsed on the field while he was doing sport and died. It was very sad.”

The Field Game is unique to Eton and the rules date back to 1847. It includes two teams of eleven
