Tesco recalls £1.15 sandwich staple over fears it may contain pieces of glass

Tesco has pulled its 295g jars of Tesco Sandwich Pickle with the batch code 3254 and best before date of September 11, 2025 over safety concerns

Tesco has issued a recall notice for its own-brand sandwich pickle over fears some jars may contain pieces of glass.

The supermarket has pulled its 295g jars of Tesco Sandwich Pickle with the batch code 3254 and best before date of September 11, 2025. The product retails at £1.15. Tesco shoppers who have purchased one of these sandwich pickles with this best before date should return it to their nearest store for a full refund.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are aware a specific date/batch code of Tesco Sandwich Pickle 295g jar may contain small pieces of glass. Therefore, this product could pose a safety risk if consumed. Please do not consume this product.

“Instead, return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required. Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly.”

You can contact Tesco Customer Services on 0800 505 55. On the Tesco website, the product is described as: “A sweet and tangy sandwich pickle made with chopped vegetables. This pickle is the perfect relish for cheese, meat, sandwiches and much more. Vegetarian Friendly. Classic recipe with finely diced vegetables for a smooth texture.”

You should also notice recall notices in stores if they’ve pulled a product from shelves. Another recall you should be aware comes from Waitrose, which has pulled packs of its own-brand butter over fears it may contain pieces of blue cloth.

The supermarket has recalled 500g blocks of its Essential Waitrose & Partners Salted Dairy Butter with the best before date of June 19, 2024. No other dates are affected by the recall. The butter retails art £1.75. Shoppers are being urged to take the product back to their nearest Waitrose store for a full refund.
