Djed Spence’s future remains uncertain despite links of a move away from Tottenham Hotspur.
Spence spent last season on loan away from Spurs with the first half of the campaign within Leeds United. The right-back returned to North London in January and was loaned out to Italian club Genoa.
The 23-year-old made 16 appearances for Genoa across the second half of last season. Now Spence is being linked with a move away from Tottenham once again, this time on a permanent deal.
A report from BBC Sport has claimed that Spence is now unlikely to complete a permanent move to Genoa. This, the article states, is because Spurs’ asking price for Spence is too much for the Serie A club to pay.
It has been claimed that Spurs would demand £8.5 million to let Spence leave the club on a permanent deal. However, Genoa are seemingly not able to meet the asking price and will not be able to sign Spence as a result.
The report went further by stating that Spence is now taking part in Tottenham’s pre-season training programme under manager Ange Postecoglou.

It remains to be seen, though, if Spence will be part of Spurs’ squad for next season or if an agreement will be reached with another club to organise his transfer away from North London.
Spence was signed by Spurs from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2022 but has since made just six appearances for the first team since his move from Teesside.
Postecoglou is expected to make a decision regarding Spence’s future over the course of pre-season, but for now, the right-back looks set to continue training with Spurs for the foreseeable future.
It is going to be a busy summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Ange Postecoglou looks to make his mark on Spurs and improve on the fifth-placed finish of 2023/24. There is sure to be plenty of change at Spurs, with a number of key transfer priorities.
