Popeyes’ iconic chicken burger has had a major revamp for fans in the UK and excited fans have described it as ‘perfection’ – it has a spicy twist that sold out in the US
Popeyes’ sell-out chicken burger has had a makeover – and Brits are calling it “perfection”.
US fans went crazy for the iconic chicken burger, so much so, that after two weeks of launching it sold out across America.
Now it’s arrived in the UK with a brand-new look. People will have to be quick to get their hands on the Buffalo Ranch version of the classic Chicken Sandwich as it’s limited edition – and available from today (March 19).
This new burger brings a spicy twist to Popeyes’ famous Chicken Sandwich, blending tangy Buffalo with the flavours of cooling, creamy Ranch. The American-style offering is priced at £6.99.
The spicy delight boasts a fried chicken fillet that has been marinated for 12 hours in Popeyes’ signature blend of Louisiana herbs and spices, coated in a crunchy coating. It’s then coated with lashings of hot Buffalo sauce and ranch sauce and topped with fresh pickles – all inside a warm brioche bun.
Fans have even gone as far as saying it’s even ‘better than McDonald’s’ as Popeyes is set to rival the much-loved McSpicy, another fan favourite that got a spicy update recently with Franks hot sauce.
In its simplest form, buffalo wing sauce is just a combination of cayenne pepper hot sauce and butter, giving the burger a spicy kick, but the cool Ranch sauce offers to help turn down the heat.
People took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their delight over the newest menu item. One fan wrote: “@Popeyes yooo. This Buffalo ranch chicken sandwich has a place in my will. #perfection,” while another added: “Popeyes got the best chicken and fries way better than McDonald’s,” and a third asked: “@Popeyes when is the buffalo ranch sandwich coming back?” And described the buffalo sauce as “fire”.
That’s not all, Popeyes have treated fans to two additional menu items – the Buffalo Saucin’ Wings, and the Popeyes Louisiana BBQ Wrap. It marks the first time sauced wings are available on Popeyes restaurant menus in the UK, following their success with fans in the US. The wrap includes two chicken tenders packed with BBQ sauce and smoked cheese all nestled in a soft tortilla.
