Chelsea have been sent a fresh Victor Osimhen message with Enzo Maresca facing a big transfer decision after the Blues beat Manchester United in the race to sign Liam Delap.
The Ipswich Town striker looks set to officially become a Chelsea player over the coming days with his £30million relegation release clause activated and a medical booked. Technically, he will be the club’s first official summer signing but other arrivals have already been sealed.
Estevao Willian will finally be able to join up with his new teammates later this summer having turned 18 in late April. Dario Essugo is another new arrival that should be available for the Club World Cup but the same cannot be said for Geovany Quenda.
Chelsea have agreed to pay Sporting CP £40million for his services but in order to continue his development, he will remain in Portugal for another 12 months. In terms of more senior additions, Osimhen continues to be the name strongly linked with a Stamford Bridge switch.
The Nigeria international is fresh off a stunning season at Galatasaray with two trophies won and 37 goals scored in all competitions. Though the Turkish giants would love to have him back, that seems extremely unlikely despite a permanent departure from Napoli being the expectation.
Juventus and Manchester United have both been linked but the former may first have to sell Dusan Vlahovic. Having lost out on Delap to Chelsea, Ruben Amorim may be looking at other striker options despite confirmation of Matheus Cunha’s arrival from Wolves.
The Brazil international is more likely to play behind a striker though and therefore Osimhen remains a serious option. For Chelsea, it will be about deciding whether or not it is worth having three strikers on their books.
An exit in the frontline could change the club’s stance however, with Christopher Nkunku, valued at £59million by Chelsea, likely to depart. Bayern Munich are interested in bringing him back to the Bundesliga and the latest club to be shockingly linked is Galatasaray.
Turkish outlet Fanatik have reported that Nkunku has been added to their shortlist with it also claimed that news of the decision hit ‘hit the agenda like a bombshell’ and that an offer will be made soon. The Frenchman seems to be their dream replacement for Osimhen.
As for the 26-year-old, winning more trophies is certainly the aim going forward. Having secured two pieces of silverware, it is fair to say Osimhen is enjoying the limelight with plenty of images uploaded to social media.
The latest of those sees him posing with the Turkish cup and league title alongside close friend and Nigerian entrepreneur Yahaya Attom Gujja.
On his Instagram page, he has numerous pictures with Osimhen and fellow Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi. The caption of his latest post read: “Celebrating my brother. Star boy [star emoji] @victorosimhen9 congratulations my bro. More to come [hands together emoji].”
With Chelsea winning a trophy and securing Champions League football, the latter part of that message can definitely be achieved by Osimhen if he arrives in west London.
