Chelsea look to have been handed a Victor Osimhen transfer boost following Manchester United’s double striker decision.

Both Premier League clubs are targeting a new striker signing this summer with Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap, Matheus Cunha, Jonathan David and Victor Osimhen being linked.

The struggles faced by Nicolas Jackson and Rasmus Hojlund this season has seen Chelsea and Man United, respectively, look at bringing in another forward.

Starting with Cunha, who has been linked to almost every Premier League club, he is very likely to leave Wolves ahead of the 2025/26 season despite signing a new contract back in January. United are clear favourites for his signature and are now advancing in talks to obtain his signature.

Ekitike, Sesko, Delap and David meanwhile are all on Chelsea’s striker transfer shortlist, as football.london reported back in April.

Delap is also firmly under consideration at Old Trafford while Sesko is an option for Arsenal and David, as a free agent, is being looked at by Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool.

Osimhen meanwhile, does not appear to be a serious option for any Premier League club other than Chelsea. The Blues tried to sign him late into last summer’s window but could not agree terms with Napoli.

As such, he ended up joining Galatasaray on loan and in 40 appearances, he has scored 36 goals. Three of those have come in their two most recent games and been hugely important for the Turkish club with a league title and cup final triumph secured in the space of five days.

Celebrating those victories, Osimhen wrote on Instagram: “What more can I say, WE ARE THE BEST! @galatasaray [five star emojis] GOD IS THE GREATEST [100 emoji].” Though Galatasaray still have two games to play, the focus will likely begin switching to his future.

Juventus have been linked with their plan being to sell Dusan Vlahovic, who is valued at £33.7million (€40m), in order to raise funds and bring him over from rivals Napoli.

Talk of Osimhen moving to Chelsea has increased significantly in recent weeks while Delap currently looks more likely to sign for United. That is because the The Athletic have claimed face-to-face talks have been held with guarantees made that he will receive substantial minutes if he joins.

Jackson’s importance, despite struggling for goals, and experience over the 22-year-old will likely mean that Chelsea cannot offer the same promise. In turn, that could see Chelsea switch their focus onto an alternative and the best option, taking into account price and ability, is Osimhen.

The Nigeria international is expected to want the move with Jackson also accepting of the competition after he liked a post that linked Osimhen to Chelsea last summer.

The BBC reported last week that Osimhen has not been ruled out as an option for Chelsea this summer.
