Weekend Wishlist including Maya Jama’s go-to body oil and M&S’ viral quilted bag

By Staff

We all have a bit of a pep in our step in the knowledge that spring has finally sprung and warmer weather is on the horizon. And with the new season well and truly in the air, many of us may be thinking about giving our wardrobe a bit of a refresh – and what better time to do that than at the weekend by indulging in a spot of retail therapy?

With the work week coming to an end, the weekend gives us a chance to catch up on some R+R, and for fashion fans – like us – that means browsing the Spring sales and our favourite high street brand’s latest collections to see what we can add to give our wardrobe a boost.

Need some inspiration? Enter Weekend Wishlist – a carefully curated edit of The Mirror fashion and beauty team’s top picks from the high street this week. At the end of every week, we seek out incredible deals, viral sensations, soon-to-be sell outs, and gorgeous gems that deserve a spot in your shopping bag (and ours), from the likes of Amazon, River Island, M&S and more.

Whether it’s clothing we’ve spotted on some of our favourite celebrities, from Cat Deeley to Frankie Bridge, viral bags that have been restocked finally, or your favourite celeb’s go-to moisturiser, below we’ve selected just a few items that we’re eyeing up this weekend that’ll give your clothing collection that spring burst it so desperately needs.

M&S’ Nylon Quilted Shoulder Bag

Fashion fans have been racing to M&S to get themselves this viral bag that has been likened to Cos’ more expensive Oversized Quilted Crossbody – but for £50 less. The chic, stylish and spacious M&S bag, which features a puffer design and can be worn over one shoulder or across the body, comes in three colours – cream, pink and black, although the cream and black are completely sold out online because it’s so popular.

Our very own fashion expert Bethan Shufflebotham has two of them and said about it: “When it was initially released, I snapped it up in both the pink and cream colourways, and it’s fast become a mainstay in my accessories arsenal. As someone who is something of a handbag hoarder, I have dozens to choose from, but have found myself reaching for these expensive-looking bags day in, day out.

“The half-moon shape is generously sized with more than enough room for a laptop, making it ideal for taking to the office or when I want to work from my favourite coffee shop. I’ve also used it for spa days, as a gym bag, and for weekends away and each and every time, there’s been space to spare inside.”

River Island’s Cream Crochet Hybrid 2 In 1 Dress

With sunnier days on the horizon, as soon as we spotted this hydrid dress from River Island, we were in love. The oatmeal colourway to light and perfect for spring while the crochet top is seriously bohemian and is perfect for festival days when you want to look a little more chic. The slip dress underneath is super elegant while the top adds a more casual feel – although it can easily be dressed up with some statement earrings and a pair of heels.

Available in sizes six to 18, the dress costs £60 and is super dreamy.

Dr Martens’ Blair Sandals

Maybe we’re getting a bit too eager for the summer sunshine, but we couldn’t resist adding these into this week’s Weekend Wishlist because they’re currently on sale for £75 down from £100, which is incredible for this brand. The Blaire Pisa Leather Strap Platform Sandals are comfortable, elegant and will add style to any and every outfit this spring and summer. Plus, with a bouncy sole and arched footbed, they’re like walking on a cloud, which everyone wants in a pair of sandals, right? Coming in three different colours – beige, lilac and peach – at this price (the normal black ones are still £110 on the website) these sandals are the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe and look good with dresses, shorts, trousers and skirts. Get them from Dr Martens’ website here.

Frankie Bridge’s sky blue suit

Nothing says spring like a co-ord in a lovely blue that’s the colour of a sunny sky – and this one that Frankie Bridge wore in one of her Instagram posts earlier this week has us swooning.

The Wool Blend two piece from John Lewis includes a pair of wide leg trousers, £85, and a double breasted blazer, £125, both in a stunning dusty blue shade that is one of this season’s must-have colours, and has a slight oversized fit without being too big, making it an elegant choice for any upcoming weddings this spring.

Featuring mock-tortoiseshell buttons which contrast the suit’s bright blue hue beautifully, the blazer is both practical and classy with a number of pockets in which to store all your essentials. The trousers are a lovely flattering fit as the wide cut of them features a double pleat detailing and easy fit waistband to make them super comfortable, stylish and easy to dress up and down.

The suit is available to buy as a jacket and trouser set separately and comes in sizes eight to 18.

Charlotte Tilbury’s new tanning drops

With the winter sun not doing us any favours when it comes to giving our skin a bit of a sun-kissed glow, Charlotte Tilbury’s latest innovation couldn’t have been released at a better time! The iconic MUA’s Beautiful Skin Island Glow Easy Tanning Drops cost £38 and have just launched on the brand’s website.

The first of its kind from the ‘Queen of Glow’, these tanning drops are infused with hyaluronic acid and a skin barrier booster and promise a “seamless” and “buildable” tan on your face thanks to the ingredient erthrulose, which is a ‘natural-keto sugar’ that the MUA says is “magic” – yes please.

The drops can be added into your existing skincare to be worn under, mixed in with or on top of your moisturiser. Once it’s applied, your tan will develop in as little as six hours.

The illuminating little drops come in two different strengths – light to medium for cooler undertones and tan-deep for warmer undertones.

Fearne Cotton’s Nobody’s Child jumpsuit

Whenever Fearne Cotton brings out a new collection with Nobody’s Child, we know we are going to fall instantly in love – as we did with this denim jumpsuit that is bang on trend this season and can be worn multiple ways.

The Fearne Cotton Denim Jumpsuit costs £79 and has been described as ‘a ray of wearable sunshine’ and the perfect wardrobe piece to reach for when you want something easy to throw on. Made from 100% indigo blue organic cotton, the ‘gorgeous’ denim jumpsuit, available in sizes four to 18, is a real bold fashion statement for spring with its thick pinny-style straps, tailored bodice and wonderful wide leg trousers.

While the cotton makes this garment super soft, its comfort level is elevated with a shirred back, allowing room for movement and stretch (something every jumpsuit should have!). A fun element of this jumpsuit too is that the straps can be worn multiple ways from the classic parallel strap or a crossover back, thanks to the addition of buttons used to attach them that have been crafted from coconuts.

Cat Deeley’s Mango shirt

She only started her permanent role on This Morning last week, but Cat Deeley has consistently been blowing us away with her timeless and elegant outfits on the ITV show. And earlier this week, she was spotted in a gorgeous chic blouse from high street fave Mango – and what’s even better is it’s only £29.99.

Coming in six different colours and patterns, the shirt comes in sizes four to 26, although only only sizes six to 24 are in stock online, and has a gorgeous satin finish that makes it super lightweight and classy. The shirt offers a flowing silhouette is finished off with a classic collar and long sleeves with buttoned cuffs. The Mango number is great capsule piece as it can be worn easily with jeans for a more casual look or dressed up with a satin skirt and heels for a fancy dinner party. Cat paired the champagne coloured blouse with a Sezane Madelyn Skirt in Black, priced at £150 and we think she looks fab.

Holly Willoughby’s go-to conditioner

If you’re a bit of a shopaholic, you’ll know that Amazon’s spring sale started this week which saw massive reductions on some of our favourite products – and one of those is the L’Oréal Paris Wonder Water that Holly Willoughby’s stylist uses to achieve the presenter’s luscious textured waves.

Speaking about this product on the star’s lifestyle website Wylde Moon, her hairstylist Ciler Peksah said: “Holly knows how important it is to give your hair a conditioning treatment as often as you can. Whereas deep conditioning treatments are used once a week, I’m currently loving using this L’Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water Hair Treatment two to three times a week, in between shampooing and your normal conditioner.”

The Wonder Water is currently on sale on Amazon for £4.99 rather than £9.99.

Bio-Oil Skincare Oil loved by Maya Jama

Reducd from £17.10 to £13.13, this skincare oil is loved by stars like Love Island presenter Maya Jama for its impressive results in reducing the appearance of stretch marks and scars as well as working wonders for hydrating dry skin, boosting elasticity and reducing hyperpigmentation.

In an article with Vogue, Maya explained: “I’ve been using Bio-Oil for years. In my house, my mum always had it for stretch marks or scars and things like that. Straight after the shower, if you’re a little bit damp and you put it on, in my mind it locks in moisture more. But I don’t know if that’s a fact! So yeah, Bio-Oil, I douse myself in that.”

M&S’ Cotton Rich Ribbed Bandeau Midi Dress

There’s a reason this dress is currently trending on Marks & Spencer’s website and is selling fast: it looks way more expensive than it’s £35 price tag and is absolutely stunning. It’s one product our fashion expert Bethan Shufflebotham thinks will be a viral sell-out – watch this space.

Designed with a bandeau-style bodice and a figure-hugging fit, this dress accentuates curves in all the right places and is super elegant. Made with a cotton rich fabric, the dress has stretch meaning it’s super comfortable to wear all day long and with a stone buff colourway, it look really luxurious. Although we think this dress would be perfect for a birthday party or date night, the midi length makes it casual enough to dress down for summer holidays and days out in the city paired with a classic denim jacket.

Boots’ Easter Beauty Egg

Not everyone wants to indulge in a giant chocolate egg this Easter- some of us would rather dive head first into a giant cardboard egg filled with beauty and skincare treats, such as Boots’ very own Little Luxuries Easter Beauty Egg, which costs £45 but is worth way more – £147.

The beauty egg, which rivals that of Lookfantastic and Glossybox, contains big names such as Iconic London, Liz Earler, Sol De Janeiro and r.e.m and will have you covered from mascara and eyeliner to brightening face serums and cleansers. Find out more about the box here.
