That’s possible with a pet camera, allowing owners to keep an eye on their animals for some peace of mind while at work, out to dinner, or even on a weekend break. Now, shoppers can save almost a third on a pet camera from Amazon that has no monthly fees, meaning they just need to pay an initial purchase price to use it.

The Tapo C210 2K 3MP Pan/Tilt Indoor Camera House Security Camera is good for more than keeping an eye on pets, too. The camera, which is now £19.98 down from £27.99, can detect movement – like a dog beginning to tear up the sofa – can identify crying babies, and even has night vision for when the house is dark.

It works on Wi-Fi and has high definition with night vision up to 10m, as well as a 360-degree pan function so all corners of the room can be kept in sight. Plus, it has two-way audio, so shoppers can hear a barking dog and tell it to be quiet, or reassure a yowling cat by speaking through the microphone.

If this isn’t the pet camera shoppers are looking for, they could try the Ring Indoor Camera which is now £19.99 down from £39.99 at Argos. This one as real-time 1080p HD live video, two-way talk, and users get real-time alerts when it detects motion.

Alternatively, Pets at Home has the Enabot EBO Moveable Pet Companion Robot with Camera & Two Way Audio for £120. This one can be remote controlled to move around the home as needed, has a two-way talk feature, and HD night vision and self-charging features.

However, the Tapo C210 2K 3MP Pan/Tilt Indoor Camera House Security Camera has plenty of great reviews at Amazon. One shopper said: “A wonderful little camera. I bought it as a pet monitor and it is amazing for the price – it has two way sound, night vision, pan and tilt, camera pre sets, and motion detection. It only took a couple of minutes to download the software to my phone and it was easy to set it up. I showed it to my brother and he bought one for his dog straight away!”

Another user said: “This is the best thing I’ve ever bought! So easy to set up, the colours are fab, night vision is great, the detection modes work perfectly – never a false trigger when the dog walks past.”

A third buyer added: “So happy with this purchase. My partner and I use this to check on our little dog Enzo while he’s out. (We’ve been told he likes to howl when we leave, sorry neighbours). However, some were a tad disappointed with their buy. One said: “The camera itself works well – the video quality is clear, and the motion detection is reliable. “While it’s a great value for the price, I’ll admit that the build quality isn’t quite as premium as some of the higher-end models. The audio could be clearer, and the app interface isn’t as polished, but for the price point, it’s hard to complain.”

Another noted it does need to be plugged in, so needs to be near a socket. They said: “I like these cameras as they can detect motion, record motion clips and are so easy to use. Once you have the app you can design your own recording schedule. The video quality is great for such a little price. It is a wired camera so it needs to be plugged it all the time.”
