A construction company that built one of Europe’s most environmentally friendly hotels has opened a new office in Exeter.
London-headquartered RED Construction has moved to Exeter Science Park on Babbage Way.
The contractor has worked on numerous projects in Bristol and the wider South West over the last eight years. Most recently, it delivered the £22m net-zero carbon Voco Zeal Hotel which is based in the park.
RED said the decision to open a new office at Exeter Science Park was “a strategic step forward” in its regional expansion.
Steve Welch, operations manager at RED Construction South West, said: ” Exeter Science Park puts us right at the heart of one of the South West’s most dynamic and forward-thinking business communities. We’re proud of our work on the Voco Zeal Hotel and excited to contribute further to the region’s growth, sustainability, and innovation.”
RED’s new office will be home to a regional team, and will “bridge the gap” between Bristol and Plymouth, Mr Welch said.
“For us, Exeter was the obvious choice, following the completion of the net zero Voco Zeal Hotel and the great relationship we had established with the team at the Science Park, as well as the benefits of being adjacent to the M5,” he added.
“We’re very pleased with the new space and looking forward to getting involved with the activity at the Science Park, including the networking opportunities and also getting to connect with likeminded companies and individuals.”
Jason Buck, senior business development manager at Exeter Science Park, said: “We’re delighted to welcome RED Construction Group to the park.
“Their involvement in delivering the Voco Zeal Hotel showcases the kind of innovative, forward-looking, sustainable development we value, and we look forward to seeing their business continue to thrive in this space.”
Exeter Science Park is home to 45 high-growth science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) businesses.
