Kent and London-based STEM tutoring provider A-Star Tuitions is taking its next step forward with the launch of an online learning platform and enhanced progress reporting system for parents, planned to go live when the 2026-27 academic year begins. The company was set up in 2018 by husband-and-wife founders Debashis and Arunima Saha, who saw first-hand how much demand existed for quality supplementary support in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The new services reflect a drive to make the company’s teaching approach more accessible and more transparent for the families it works with.

This period of growth coincides with notable external recognition. A-Star Tuitions has reached the finals of the Small Business Awards for Kent and London in two categories — Best Home Based Business and Best Online Business — and has been announced as the sponsor of the People’s Choice Award at the 2026 National Tutoring Awards, organised by The Tutors’ Association.

Launching in September 2026, the digital platform will complement the company’s live online tuition by providing students with on-demand access to structured learning resources they can explore at their own pace.

The idea for A-Star Tuitions grew from the founders’ own experience supporting their child through GCSEs, which gave them a personal understanding of the challenges students and parents face during examination preparation.

Since launching, the company has built a track record of working with students from Year 7 to A-Level, with its one-to-one and group tuition programmes focused on developing lasting knowledge and genuine academic confidence.

Rather than positioning itself as a last-minute exam service, A-Star Tuitions has consistently advocated for early, sustained support as the most effective route to strong results.

Arunima described the company’s guiding philosophy: “It is a simple motto for us: we want to bring out the best in every child. We aim to deliver an exceptional experience for both students and parents through well-planned and focused learning sessions. Structure, discipline and encouragement work hand in hand — our role is to help every student unlock their potential.”

The company’s programmes span Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and A-Level, building subject knowledge across the core STEM disciplines while preparing students for exams and future academic progression.

Long-term relationships between tutors and students tend to yield the most significant improvements, the founders say, as tutors are better placed to identify patterns in a student’s learning and tailor their support as needed.

Debashis was direct about the importance of timing: “One message we consistently share with parents is not to leave it too late. Each year we meet families who wish they had reached out sooner. Academic confidence doesn’t develop overnight — it takes time, and the foundations are best laid well before the pressure of Year 11 sets in.”

The new online classroom has been developed to widen access for students with varied schedules, whether that means working around extracurricular commitments, distance, or a preference for independent study.

Students will be free to progress through materials at the pace that suits them, with lessons and resources available whenever they need them, while still following the carefully structured curriculum A-Star Tuitions has developed over the years.

Running alongside this will be a new progress monitoring system for parents, delivering regular and detailed updates on how their child is engaging with the learning programme and the progress being made.

The system is designed to bridge the communication gap between home and tutor, giving families visibility into academic development and making it easier to have meaningful conversations about their child’s education.

The company’s growing profile in awards circles and its involvement in the National Tutoring Awards reflect its investment in sector-wide improvement and professional standards.

As A-Star Tuitions prepares for this next phase, the founders remain focused on what they set out to achieve: giving every student the support and belief they need to reach their academic potential.
