One of the victims was assaulted in front of her children

Police have released images of a man they want to speak to after two women were attacked unprovoked on the Central line. The first victim was walking down the escalator at Marble Arch station at around 3pm on November 11 when she was slapped across the face by a man.

He then subjected her to verbal abuse before getting on a westbound train. Minutes later, a mother with her children were approached by the same man as they reached Lancaster Gate.

She too was then shouted at and smacked. Both women are being supported by the British Transport Police as enquiries continue.

The force has now released CCTV images in the hopes someone may recognise a person of interest. They show a muscular Black man with shoulder-length black locs wearing a white vest.

A statement issued in connection reads: “Violent offences, especially those targeting women and girls, will absolutely not be tolerated and we will do everything we can to identify offenders and bring them to justice.

“Officers believe the man in the image could have information that may assist their enquiries.”

The appeal comes days after a woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger on the Elizabeth line. She was travelling between Slough and Tottenham Court Road during rush hour when a man violated her from behind.

Anyone who recognises him is urged to text BTP on 61016, using the reference 402 of 11 November. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
