As well as an impressive discount on the popular anti-ageing serum, Medik8 has some freebies on offer, too, including a free Hydr8 B5 serum worth £45 when spending £120

Science-backed skincare brand Medik8 has launched their Black Friday sale, offering mature shoppers and those conscious of early signs of ageing the ideal opportunity to try out one of their best-selling formulas. Crystal Retinal – a ‘world first’ formula – is considered to be a ‘gold standard’ anti-ageing product, and for a limited time, it’s 25% off.

The retinoid is the one product that This Morning beauty guru, Nadine Baggott, won’t go without. In an interview with The Mirror, the 61-year-old revealed the powerhouse Vitamin A serum is a non-negotiable in her nightly routine.

Perfect for those with perimenopausal skin around the age of 45+, it comes in various strengths, with CR1 usually costing £45, moving up the ranks to CR24, which is £109. But as part of the Black Friday event, shoppers can bag the most sensitive version for £33.75, while the highest strength is now £81.75.

Speaking on the product she credits her age-defying complexion for, she said: “Retinal is the strongest form of Vitamin A you can get on the market prior to prescription skincare and my favourite is this one from Medik8 . I always have a 10 and 20 on the go all the time. Vitamin A is like your skin’s cheerleader and helps your skin repair at night. It boosts collagen production, elastin production, boosts hydration and stops the clumping of pigment which causes age spots and brightens the skin too.

“It smells of almonds and that marzipan kind of smell now kind of lulls me to sleep. It has an iconic orange colour and it’s my perfect gel cream texture.”

This iconic vitamin A night serum is clinically proven to visibly smooth stubborn wrinkles, brighten dark spots, decongest and firm your skin – without irritation

The key ingredient in this anti-ageing formula is retinal, a next-generation vitamin A that works 11x faster than standard retinol. This night serum is clinically proven to smooth the look of stubborn wrinkles, brighten dark spots, decongest and firm your skin without causing irritation. With up to 100 uses per tube, it could last users around three months, making it a worthwhile investment.

For those who may prefer to start with retinol, rather than retinal, Elizabeth Arden has a whole range dedicated to the active, which is a good place to start if tackling fine lines and wrinkles are a priority. The Retinol + HPR Ceramide Rapid Skin-Renewing Water Cream, £77, has been described as a ‘potent’ cream that leaves skin ‘nourished and radiant with a youthful bounce’, however, is generally more expensive than Medik8.

Some people are still hesitant to use retinol, and if that’s the case, the No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Booster Serum costs £34.95. Instead of Vitamin A, it contains Matrixyl 3000+, a potent peptide blend designed to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of even deep-set wrinkles – though it’s unlikely to be as effective as retinal.

Back at Medik8, the Crystal Retinal has earned an average rating of 4.9 stars out of five. One shopper said it was a ‘game changer’ for her skin, adding: “Absolutely love this product. It has been a game changer for my skin and it does not cause any irritation when used as per instructions.”

Another added: “I’ve been using Crystal Retinal 6 and absolutely love it — I’ll definitely go for a stronger level next time. My skin looks clearer, smoother, and noticeably firmer whenever I use it.”

“This is one of the best products on the market. It’s encapsulated so it has the best delivery system. You can build it up and it will never irritate your skin. It has definitely helped with my fine lines and wrinkles,” wrote a third.

Some have found the pump dispenser a little tricky to use, commenting: “I am loving the product, but I’m having a hard time with the dispenser.” Medik8 has explained that they use an airless design, which can sometimes appear to ‘stop’ producing product, but a few extra pumps usually remedies the issue.

Another added: “I’ve been using this for almost a month now and my skin is already looking brighter and smoother. The cream is lightweight and absorbs quickly and hasn’t upset my sensitive skin.”

Its not just the Medik8 cult classics on sale, either, with some of their latest launches also on offer. The Liquid Peptides Advanced MP was released in January this year, and is a wrinkle reduction serum with 30% multi-peptide complex – proven to deliver results in as little as 10 minutes. It’s currently £59.25, reduced from £79.

Medik8’s Advanced Night Restore is also on sale, down to £45 from £60. The night cream is packed with peptides, ceramides and antioxidants, and recently rescued shopping editor Zoe Cripps’ skin when she destroyed her skin barrier with an at-home peel. Medik8’s signature ‘midnight repair complex’ blends ingredients like dragon fruit extract, saskatoon berry and restoring peptides that work in synch with the skin’s natural overnight repair cycle. There’s also niacinamide to calm and a blend of lipids to strengthen and replenish the barrier.
