Ange Postecoglou is holding his first press conference of the new season following Tottenham’s 5-1 friendly win at Hearts on Wednesday evening.

The 58-year-old is back up in Scotland for the first time since his two-year tenure in Glasgow at Celtic, where he won five out of six available domestic trophies including the treble in his final season. On Wednesday he brought his Spurs squad up to Edinburgh for a friendly match as they prepare for the new campaign.

Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Spurs towards the end of the first half and after a complete switch in the visiting team’s personnel for the second half, Hearts found an equaliser within a minute after Lawrence Shankland scored with a low effort after an Emerson Royal pass was cut out.

However, Spurs found a second goal and it came from young striker Will Lankshear who had impressed in first team training this week after a 32-goal season for the U21s last season. His goal was set up by Djed Spence, who seized on to a Hearts pass, drove on and played in the 19-year-old to fire home inside the left-hand post.

The third goal for Spurs was a superb one for Mikey Moore. The 16-year-old was played in by Lucas Bergvall with a good reverse ball and the winger turned his defender inside out before slotting it home. It became 4-1 when Timo Werner got down the left and hit a low cross for Djed Spence to tap home into the net. A fifth goal for Spurs came when Bergvall curled in a cross and Dane Scarlett’s header was saved but Ashley Phillips touched in the loose ball.
