A burglary followed by a police chase has resulted in a Norwood road being shut following a crash. Shortly after 8.15pm last night (Saturday, May 3) officers chased a suspect reportedly involved in a burglary in Dunstans Road, Dulwich.
Police say the suspect crashed into another car in Knights Hill before being arrested and taken to hospital. His injuries are currently being assessed, as officers confirmed no-one else was injured in the smash.
A 58-year-old man suffered a head injury after being attacked during the prior alleged burglary in Dulwich. The injury has been assessed as neither life threatening or changing.
Police cordons are in place on both Knights Hill and Dunstans Road while enquiries continue.
Three London bus routes – 196, 468 and SL6 – have been diverted away from Knights Hill due to the crash.
A Met spokesperson said: ” Following a report at 8.16pm on Saturday, May 3 of a burglary in SE22, officers pursued a vehicle linked to the incident, which was then involved in a collision with another car. The driver of the suspect car was arrested and taken to hospital. His injuries are still being assessed.
“No-one else was injured in the collision. Police cordons remain in place while enquiries are ongoing into the alleged assault and burglary in Dunstans Road.
“A 58-year-old man is being treated for a non-life-threatening / life-changing head injury following the incident.”
