Half-time ratings
Pickford – Was beaten easily by Vini Jr with a big chance on goal. Not been tested much otherwise and distribution has been too long and lacking purpose. 5
Walker – Prevented a clear goal for Vini Jr with a lung-bursting run back to stop his shot on the line. 6
Maguire – A header deflected from a corner over the bar. Defensively England have looked vulnerable as Brazil have found their way into the box in central areas too easily. Then there was the error which gifted Raphinha a shot on goal. 4
Stones – Similar to Maguire, England have shown vulnerability centrally as Rodrygo and Vini Jr get in behind and into the box on numerous occasions. 5
Chilwell – Had a couple of speculative shots from outside the box that have failed to hit the target. Wasteful in moments with his crossing, one near the half time whistle in particular heading over should have been much better. 4
Rice – Not necessarily been too influential in either regard. Having to cover in full back areas at times when England looked vulnerable on the counter. 5
Gallagher – Bright opening period, winning several advantageous set pieces after spritely drives into the Brazil defensive third. Lovely pass to Ollie Watkins for the best chance of the opening stages. 6
Bellingham – The engine room of this England team, winning so many fouls as Brazil tried to get close to him. Not been able to have too much of a chance on goal yet though. 6
Gordon – Liking the Newcastle winger’s influence on the game here. A couple of efforts testing Bento and providing a traditional inverted and pacey left wing option that is lacking from the England side. 6
Foden – Typically brilliant from Foden when in tight spaces but as of yet still lacking that big moment. Threatening though as always. 6
Watkins – Fired a close-range shot high over Bento’s bar. Not been able to get much on the ball at all and not coming deep like his competitor Harry Kane might. 5
Subs:
Konsa – Not been in focus much since coming on, since Walker went off Vini Jr has not been fed in the same way.
