Princess Kate chose to appear alone in a video discussing her health issues, according to a Royal expert. She sat on a bench by herself, without Prince William, because this was her story to tell.

A Royal source told The Times: “This was her as a strong woman sharing an innately strong message to the nation. She didn’t need anyone sitting next to her,” as reported by The Daily Beast. The source also mentioned that William has been supporting her and their family from behind the scenes.

“She did it with his full support and advice. On every level, he wishes she didn’t have to do it. But it was her decision, it wasn’t begrudged, and he fully supported it.”

In the video, Kate spoke about her health issues, her surgery, and the discovery of cancer during post-surgery testing. She is currently undergoing “preventative chemotherapy,” to ensure all cancerous cells are eliminated.

Reflecting on William’s past, particularly the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, friends believe this has led him into the protective mode he is in now, reports the Express.

An aide reportedly told the Daily Beast: “All he wants to do is protect his wife and children.”

Reports suggest that Kate will not be participating in this year’s Easter celebrations, typically held at Windsor Castle.

Instead, “the family just want to go away for Easter, spend time together, the five of them, close off from the world and move on,” says the friend.
