Chelsea have already been fairly busy this summer with the Blues set to jet off the United States in the coming days for the Club World Cup.

Dario Essugo’s move from Sporting CP was the first deal to be confirmed before Liam Delap’s switch from Ipswich Town was announced two days later. Mamadou Sarr’s £14million transfer from Strasbourg was completed earlier in the week and all three are expected to play a part in the Club World Cup.

The first of the two transfer windows, which opened on June 1 and closed at 7pm on Tuesday, allowed the Blues to complete deals ahead of the revamped competition. The second transfer window will reopen on Monday, June 16 and any player bought in this window may still play in the Club World Cup, but only after the group stages.

With the main summer transfer window not shutting until September 1, Enzo Maresca still has plenty of time to mould his squad exactly how he would like and further incomings are expected. Here football.london takes a look at the signings they could make when the transfer window does reopen on June 16.

Jamie Gittens

Chelsea were looking to complete a deal with Borussia Dortmund for winger Jamie Gittens, with the Blues seeing a £42million offer rejected on Tuesday afternoon. football.london understands Gittens has informed Dortmund of his desire to join the west Londoners and it’s expected the Premier League side will revisit a move. Chelsea do not want to be rushed in completing any deal, though, with Dortmund valuing the player at around £50million.

Mike Maignan

Chelsea are said to be happy with their four goalkeepers of Djordje Petrovic, Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders, but when the chance to sign AC Milan shotstopper Mike Maignan came about, it was deemed a good opportunity to sign a world class No.1.

The Blues proposed a fee just shy of £13million for the AC Milan goalkeeper, but the Rossoneri stood firm in their £21million valuation, football.london understands. Chelsea believe that price is too high for a 29-year-old with just 12 months remaining on his contract at the San Siro, but it’s possible this saga rumbles on long into the summer.

Hugo Ekitike

Chelsea remain interested in signing Hugo Ekitike this summer, although the Blues are reluctant to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s £84million asking price for the striker.

The 22-year-old, who scored 22 goals and assisted 12 more in 48 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign, is thought to have a bright future ahead of him. Whether that future is in west London or not remains to be seen.

Marc Guehi

Chelsea are looking to add another centre-back to Maresca’s squad and explored a deal to sign Dean Huijsen before his move to Real Madrid. With a number of defenders set to move on from Stamford Bridge this summer, Marc Guehi could be the ideal signing to add extra quality and strength to the Chelsea side.

football.london understands the England international is one of many names being considered by the Blues this summer. The Crystal Palace captain has just one year remaining on his contract with the Eagles so could be available for a reasonable fee.
