Arsenal are hoping to make a number of big signings this summer as the look to arrest a run of three straight runners-up finishes in the Premier League and finally go one better and lift the title in 2025/26.

Mikel Arteta will task Andrea Berta with bringing in the signings to make that happen, with five new faces the ideal summer transfer window for the Gunners.

football.london understands that Arteta is keen to strengthen with a new goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and wide forward. That means it could be an extremely busy few months at the Emirates Stadium and that there could be huge figures spent on new signings.

Arsenal are closing in on deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. then attention will turn to attacking areas.

Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres looks to be the choice for the striker signing, but we are less sure on what could happen should the Gunners move to sign a wide forward too.

Beyond Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, there is not much in terms of back-ups in north London, hence the desire to sign more attacking players.

And Arsenal could be about to find out if they have any hope of prising Rodrygo away from Real Madrid.

The Brazilian has been described by Jude Bellingham as the “most talented player” in the Real Madrid squad, which is saying something in a side packed with extraordinary players.

Speaking earlier this season, the Englishman said: “Rodrygo is so underrated. For me, he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad.

“The things he can do with the football. We’ll be messing around, and he’ll flick the ball up somehow, and you’re thinking: ‘how’d he do that?’ I’m twisting my ankles if I try that!”

Real Madrid are taking part in the Club World Cup which starts today and Rodrygo is part of the squad for the tournament in the United States if America under new head coach Xabi Alonso after Carlo Ancelotti left to become Brazil manager.

Rodrygo posted on social media this week that he was “happy” in training under Alonso, but there remain doubts over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Arsenal have been heavily tipped to make a move for the 24-year-old with Gabriel Magalhaes describing the forward as a “phenomenon” earlier this week.

Los Blancos take on Al-Hilal in their first game of the Club World Cup on Wednesday and all eyes will be on Xabi Alonso’s first starting XI to see who is in his thinking and who is not.
