Arsenal’s forward line could look very different compared to last term by the time they kick off against Manchester United.

The Gunners will begin their Premier League campaign on August 17 away at Old Trafford against the Red Devils. Between now and then, Arsenal could add more new signings to their squad having already been busy in the transfer market.

Three new additions to Mikel Arteta’s squad have already been made with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard all moving to the Emirates Stadium. And it appears that another deal is close to completion.

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. football.london understands that an agreement is close to being reached to bring Gyokeres to the Gunners, with the two clubs set to advance on talks over finalising a deal.

It’s thought that Arsenal are confident that a deal can be agreed to sign Gyokeres this summer, who is valued at around £69million by Sporting. If a deal does get completed, the Sweden international would be expected to lead the line for the Gunners next term.

The signing of a new striker has dominated the rumour mill for Arsenal over the last two years. Gyokeres’ arrival would see the Gunners move a step closer to achieving a dream forward line for next season.

Gyokeres will be expected to start as the central striker for the Gunners next term, but will still have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to back him up when necessary. The Sweden international will also have several options on either wing to accompany him in the forward line.

Bukayo Saka is still expected to be the first-choice right winger at Arsenal next season, although he will face competition from Noni Madueke once a deal is completed.

On the left wing there is also some competition for starting spots. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are the current left wide forward options for Arsenal, but there is the possibility of a new addition to the squad.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has been heavily linked with signing for Arsenal this summer and would want to play on the left wing if he was to move to the Emirates.

If that deal also gets completed, the Gunners will be blessed with several options across every position in the forward line going into their Premier League title challenge next term.
