Man ‘followed woman through Bethnal Green then sexually assaulted her’

A man allegedly followed a woman from a train station then sexually assaulted her, police say. The incident happened near Bethnal Green Police Station at around 6.30am on Monday, January 22.

The man then left, walking along Victoria Park Square towards Bethnal Green Tube Station. Officers in the area were informed but the man had left the area.

Metropolitan Police say enquiries have been carried out following the incident such as looking at CCTV and speaking with witnesses, however, officers are yet to identify the suspect.

Police are now releasing an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The man is Black, around 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
