Pret A Manger is shaking up its prices with a new loyalty scheme. It will be scrapping one of its best features – five free coffees a day.
The Club Pret subscription offered subscribers the free drinks and cost just ÂŁ30 a month – making a single coffee cost just 20p a day during 30-day months. But the deal has been scrapped, devastating the city’s office workers.
The Club Pret membership will be staying, but the subscription is going to look very different. We’ve laid out all the new rules and how much it costs below.

Pret a Manger new subscription rules
Pret a Manger members will now have to pay for their drinks each time they order one, under the new subscription rules. The new subscription will give members 50 per cent off drinks instead of them being free.
There will also be no more 20 per cent discount on food in stores using the Club Pret subscription.
How much will it cost?
Currently, the Club Pret subscription costs ÂŁ30 a month and allows members five free drinks a day. Under the new subscription, the cost of a Club Pret subscription will start at just ÂŁ5, when the new rules come in at the beginning of September.
The subscription will remain at ÂŁ5 until March 31, 2025, when it’s due to go up to ÂŁ10 a month, The Mirror reported.
Which subscription is better value?
The old Club Pret subscription is far better value than the new model Pret A Manger has suggested. On the old subscription, for ÂŁ30 a month, you could get up to five free coffees a day.
This works out (based on a 30-day month) at around 20p per coffee – saving you ÂŁ3.60 on every Pret latte you get (normally ÂŁ3.80 each). This comes out to ÂŁ78 saved in a month, minus the ÂŁ30 subscription cost. Or, if you just want one coffee a day, this will work out at just ÂŁ1, still saving you ÂŁ2.80 on your latte every day (ÂŁ54 a month minus the ÂŁ30).
Meanwhile, we’ve worked out that the new model will cost you more than twice as much for just one coffee a day.
The new model will give you 50 per cent off your latte, making it ÂŁ1.90 – but one a day would still come out at ÂŁ57 a month, plus the ÂŁ5 a month you need to be part of the subscription, bringing the total spent to ÂŁ62 a month for ÂŁ114 worth of coffee. This comes out to ÂŁ52 saved.
When will the new subscription model start?
Pret a Manger has said the new subscription model is due to kick in on September 3.
Pret a Manger: ‘Our priority is better value for everyone’
Clare Clough, Pret UK and Ireland Managing Director, said: “We know this is a change. But with a Club Pret subscription, our coffees, teas, coolers and iced drinks will continue to be the best offer on the high street, and at a much more accessible price than the ÂŁ360 a year people have to pay for the current scheme.
“Given the majority of our customers are not Club Pret subscribers, our priority now is to focus on better value for everyone.”
