Viktor Gyokeres makes Arsenal transfer feelings clear in four-word message as statement released

Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres has made a huge admission that seemingly does not rule out staying at Sporting CP. The Gunners are expected to sign a striker ahead of the 2025/26 season with Gyokeres as one of their man targets.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is the other and as things currently stand, he is the forward signing that Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are pursuing. The club’s sporting director has started talks with Leipzig and he now is aware of all the details regarding his release clause and potential payment structures, as per Sky Sports Germany.

Interest has remained in Gyokeres however, with a major announcement sparking Arsenal transfer talk again. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that he would be missing Sweden’s upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Algeria.

“Viktor has a minor injury that he needs to rehabilitate and in consultation with the medical team it has been concluded that he cannot play against Hungary or Algeria,” a press release read.

Gyokeres has been asked about his future several times but the 27-year-old has answered any transfer questions expertly. A recent update on his future was particularly intriguing as it came via his former Coventry City teammate Leo Ostigard during a recent episode of the Flymodus podcast.

“No, we will see,” Gyokeres admitted while laughing when asked if his next club was going to be Arsenal. “Nobody knows anything yet. I wish I had a more fun answer but that is all I can say for now.”

Just before Ostigard hung up, he jokingly told Gyokeres to tell him when ‘everything is signed and sorted down at Arsenal’.

“Yeah, yeah, sure,” Gyokeres then retorted, playing along with the jest. In the Swede’s latest interview, questions surrounding his future were not on the agenda but he did make a four-word claim that may hint at his Sporting exit stance

During Vogue’s ‘A day in the gym with Viktor Gyokeres’, via Abola, he admitted: “Lisbon is one of the best cities in Europe. I feel at home.”

The latter part of that is particularly interesting with Gyokeres and some family members revealed their admiration for the Portuguese capital on a number of occasions, but it is unclear how much location will actually impact his decision.

It is worth noting though that there is no team solely focused on a deal for him with Arsenal working on Sesko. Barcelona club chiefs have also ruled the Spanish club out of the race while Chelsea are prioritising additions in other areas of the pitch.
