Arsenal have enjoyed a great start to the season so far and sit top of the table after seven games. The last match week was the time the tables turned and the win over West Ham combined with Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea has seen the title race turned on its head.
The Gunners have since been made favourites, and much of that has to do with many of the club’s eight summer signings. Some have made bigger impacts than others, while many have taken to their new club with ease.
That said, some still have question marks attached to them as they adjust to new surroundings. With that in mind football.london have given their ratings of all eight of the new signings so far.
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6
Made his debut in the League Cup 2-0 win over Port Vale in the League Cup third round. Had very little to do but managed his box well and distributed the ball confidently. Certainly an upgrade on Neto from last season.
Piero Hincapie – n/a
Has barely played any minutes for Arsenal so far, having been injured with a groin problem. Came on late against Athletic Club and was impressive for the few minutes he got but it would be unfair to give him a rating.
Christian Norgaard – 6
Also injured but fit enough to make many appearances, but also played against Port Vale in the League Cup. Held the midfield well and provided a solid base for the build-up on the day.
Cristhian Mosquera – 8
The surprise package of all the summer signings and considered a bargain signing. Has deputised in place of both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at times in some big games and shown to be very astute, quick and composed with very few mistakes to speak of.
Noni Madueke – 8
Another player who has proven his doubters wrong in the early stages with some great performances. Despite now being out injured, he deputised brilliantly in place of Bukayo Saka, the Arsenal talisman, who was also missing.
Martin Zubimendi – 9
The best of all of Arsenal’s new summer signings and the player who has made the most impact in the red and white shirt in helping the Gunners to the top of the table. Two goals scored and plenty of key passes played in setting up big chances while anchoring the midfield and being the catalyst for so many attacking moves.
Viktor Gyokeres – 7
A mixed start to life for the Gunners’ new striker, Viktor Gyokeres, is gradually growing into his new role in North London and has scored three goals in his first ten games. While many would have wanted plenty more, there is no doubt he is still getting used to the system as the players are getting used to his style and presence – especially with how tricky the opening fixtures were for the Gunners.
Eberechi Eze – 7
An exciting signing who has not disappointed since his arrival. There is definitely more to come from the midfielder, and with Martin Odegaard missing, there will be a greater emphasis on Eze to step up in the captain’s stead.
