A fire broke out in a shop in Barking which sits underneath a flat. The shop on Whalebone Lane was seen to be engulfed in flames in photos posted on social media which caused traffic to build up on the road.

Traffic and travel site Inrix says that the fire caused the road to close with stationary traffic. There are diversions in place for two buses, the 173 and 499, with the road closed between Stanley Avenue and James Avenue, Barking.

It is currently unknown if anyone was injured in the fire and how it started.
