Hello and welcome to football.london for live coverage of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Burnley this afternoon.
After the final international break of the 2023/24 season, club football has returned once again. For Chelsea, there is an outside shot of them qualifying for Europe this season but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have to be very consistent in their remaining 11 league matches.
It starts with the visit of a Burnley side, who are sat right down in 19th-place in the Premier League table and fighting for a space in the division next term. Chelsea go into the match as huge favourites but have been rocked by further injury problems to add to their crisis this season.
Romeo Lavia will miss the rest of the season after the Belgian suffered a setback during his recovery from a hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined since December 27. Carney Chukwuemeka, Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah are all likely to miss this afternoon’s match after the trio were added to the club’s injury list earlier in the week.
