England squad latest odds as Arsenal and Chelsea heroes face Euro 2024 battle

There are set to be plenty of players jostling for places in the next England squad ahead of Euro 2024. The Three Lions signed off from the March international break with a 2-2 draw with Belgium and manager Gareth Southgate will have several dilemmas to solve before naming his 23-man squad in the summer.

A large chunk of Southgate’s final squad will already be decided, provided those key players can stay fit. Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is among them, priced at 1/50 by bookmaker bet365 to be included, after captaining the Three Lions on Tuesday as he won his 50th cap. Gunners teammate Bukayo Saka is also viewed as a definite for the Euros, with the forward priced at 1/33.

However, there are still places up for grabs as Southgate continues to search for his best XI, demonstrated by Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s player of the match display against Belgium. That performance has seen his odds shorten to 2/7, having been a 20/1 outsider as recently as January.

Those odds place Mainoo close to Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher (4/9) in the pecking order and below Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison (1/2), according to bet365. In terms of Chelsea’s possible England contingent, Ben Chilwell (2/5) is likely to be one of England’s left-back options while Levi Colwill (6/4) faces a fight to make the squad and will hope versatility can aid his cause.

Arsenal defender Ben White is viewed as more of an outsider to go to the Euros at 8/1, having asked not to be considered for selection in the recent international break. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (1/4) is odds-on to be included in the 23-man group, despite being Arsenal’s second-choice stopper since September.

Chelsea duo Reece James (3/1) and Raheem Sterling (10/1) are given an outside chance by bet365. James has struggled with injuries this season and Sterling has not added to his 82 England caps since December 2022.
