Jhon Duran has already told Chelsea ‘dream’ transfer in massive hint over next club

Chelsea are upping their efforts to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Blues have been in touch with the 20-year-old’s entourage in recent days, football.london understands, with Villa open to selling the striker this summer. That is, however, if a club is to offer in the region of £40-45million for Duran.

Chelsea will do everything in their power to drive that price down but sources have claimed that Villa will accept nothing less at this moment in time. Personal terms have not been discussed in great extent yet but that particular aspect is not expected to be an issue.

Judging by Duran’s comments around five months ago, he would relish the opportunity of moving to Stamford Bridge. Speaking to Colombian outlet Win Sports TV in January, the striker said: “I remain focused on Aston Villa.

“I am not aware of interest from AC Milan or Chelsea. They are giant clubs and it would be a pleasure, but I have no knowledge of anything.”

He then continued: “As a child, you dream of playing there [Milan or Chelsea].”

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their attack for newly-appointed head coach Enzo Maresca, who begins work at Stamford Bridge at the start of next month. Last season, Nicolas Jackson played 44 times for the Blues in all competitions despite missing a month when representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old striker was signed last summer and the initial plan from Chelsea’s perspective was to ease him into the club and not place too much reliance on his shoulders, football.london understands. However, with consistent injuries to Christopher Nkunku and the club’s decision to loan Armando Broja out in January, that plan never materialised.

Jackson still managed to score 17 goals in the 44 games he did play for Chelsea – in what was a highly respectable return in his debut season at the club, especially given all of the circumstances. The Blues, though, want to ease the burden on the Senegal international by adding more fire-power to their attack.

Benjamin Sesko was a target for Chelsea but the Slovenian forward now looks set to stay at RB Leipzig for the upcoming season at the very least. Victor Osimhen is a long-term target of Chelsea’s but interest in the Nigerian forward has cooled somewhat given the extraordinary price-tag it would take to sign him.

So it looks, for now, that Duran is Chelsea’s first-choice target when it comes to signing a central striker. The Blues will be hoping they can make the youngster’s dream come true this summer.
