An emergency services incident has led to railway lines being blocked and the possibility of trains being cancelled.

Officials say there was an emergency call from a train between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. Some lines between these stations are blocked as a result.

Stratford services may also be affected. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised, National Rail says. ‘Major disruption’ is expected until 1pm.

National Rail says on its website: “South Western Railway have received an emergency call from a train between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. Until the situation has been assessed all trains in the area will have to remain at a stand.

“Their control room and the signalling staff are liaising with the train crew, staff are being sent to the scene in order to determine what action needs to be taken.”

Officials say tickets will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following services:

  • London Underground via any reasonable route

  • Great Western Railway between London Paddington – Windsor & Eton Central via Slough

  • Great Western Railway between London Paddington – Basingstoke via Reading

National Rail added: “Once they have gathered more information regarding the incident we will send an updated message. In the meantime should you require assistance or onward travel advice please speak to a member of station staff or use a station help point.”

MyLondon has approached the British Transport Police for more information.
