Man City vs Arsenal prediction as Mikel Arteta sent instruction for huge Premier League title clash

By Staff

Former Arsenal and Manchester City full-back Gael Clichy has urged Mikel Arteta to ensure his team attacks from the outset to increase their chances at the Etihad Stadium.

The Gunners travel to face Pep Guardiola’s men on Sunday evening knowing the result could drastically change the title race. Arsenal lead the way at the top of the Premier League but only on goal difference over Liverpool with City sitting just a point behind in third.

Some may be tempted to sit behind the ball and play for a point in Arsenal’s position. But Clichy has told Super 6 that this should not be an option this weekend.

“Arsenal cannot lose on Sunday,” the Frenchman stressed. “A draw will still keep them ahead of City in the table, but I am not sure a point is enough against a team like City.

“You want Arsenal to go and try and get the three points, because even with a five-point lead right now in the season, this isn’t a guarantee of anything.” Despite his advice for Arsenal, Clichy is backing City to pick up a narrow 1-0 victory.

Ahead of the trip to the North West, Arteta will be sweating over the fitness of Bukayo Saka. The winger left the England training camp last week as a precautionary message but it is unclear whether he will be ready to start against Guardiola’s men.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli are also doubts for the away trip but Arsenal are not the only team with injury concerns. City are sweating over the fitness of defensive duo Kyle Walker and John Stones after both left the field early during the international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium respectively.
