Tottenham confirm major injury setback during international break as statement made

Tottenham have announced that winger Manor Solomon has had surgery on his right knee after a meniscus injury. He hasn’t played since September 30.

Solomon joined the club in the summer from Fulham but suffered a damaging long-term knock early on in his time in north London. The club have confirmed that he “will continue his rehabilitation with our medical staff.”

Solomon had posted an update to social media platform Instagram on Tuesday. He wrote: “Hi everyone. Lately I’ve been away from social media and focusing solely on my rehab and getting back on the field. “The last period has been the most difficult and frustrating in my career.

“In the past five months I’ve been working as hard as possible to get back to doing what I love the most, but unfortunately, I haven’t fully recovered yet. “At the same time, I’m full of motivation and will continue to do everything in order to be back stronger than ever to help my club and country.

“Thank you for your support, see you guys soon.”

In early October Solomon posted online to update fans following the unfortunate knock he picked up in training. “Not an easy one to take for me personally, but I’ve already started my rehabilitation in order to come back as soon as possible and stronger than ever,” he wrote.

“Thank you all for your support, looking forward to seeing you soon on the pitch.”

The Israeli forward is yet to score for his new club since joining. Manager Ange Postecoglou has remained reserved in recent weeks over a return for the forward too.

“I’m not really sure and I wouldn’t want to put that pressure on him. He’s had a tough time,” he said last week. “Whenever players go through these periods, the important thing is not to try to put any firm deadlines or firm statements around it. [Rodrigo] Bentancur went through it when he overlapped two seasons, but these things happen. We’ve got Sess [Ryan Sessegnon] going through it.

“All you’ve got to do is help them along the way, support them and give them as much guidance as you can, and put them in the hands of the people who know best and just see what the outcomes are.”

At the start of the month he also said, “Manor is sort of progressing but is still not anywhere near rejoining the group. He still has a bit of a way to go.

“Again, it is another frustrating one for him. He is working really hard, keen to get back and we were hoping for an early return date, but it’s been little things along the way that have set him back. Fair to say, he is still a fair bit away from the group.”
