Tottenham vs Man City Premier League fixture to be rescheduled

By Staff

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash with Manchester City will be rescheduled after the Blues made it through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup following a 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

The two clubs were due to face off on April 20 or 21, but City’s progression means a new date is needed given it is the weekend when the cup semi-finals are due to be played at Wembley.

While Spurs have a number of midweeks free given they are out of all cup competitions, the same cannot be said for Man City, who are chasing a second successive Treble. Should Pep Guardiola’s side make it through to the Champions League semi-finals, only two Tuesdays and Wednesdays would be free for them.

The first comes in the midweek after the FA Cup semi-final. Should City indeed make it to the last four of the Champions League, then the only other midweek available would be in the final week of the season.

Tottenham host Burnley on May 11 before the final day clash away at Sheffield United on Sunday, May 19. Of course, if Man City do get knocked out in the Champions League quarter-finals by Real Madrid, then more options would open up, including the midweeks of April 9 or 10, and April 16 or 17.

While Spurs chase their own league goals, Ange Postecoglou’s side are set to have a sway in the title race. The club still have Arsenal and Liverpool to face, as well as Man City.

Tottenham’s defeat to Fulham means they remain two points outside the top four with ten games to go. It is likely that the Premier League will be awarded an extra and fifth Champions League spot. Tottenham are ahead of sixth place United by six points.
